Linux Virtual Console




Virtual Console Logout
If you are using Linux shell prompt or Linux terminal and you logged in it, type "exit" or "[Ctrl]-[D]" or "log out" of the terminal or console session.


Virtual Console Shutdown
To shutdown your computer at a linux shell prompt, type the following command:
halt

Some computers automatically turn the power off after shutting down.In RedHat Linux you will find this method. If your computer does not, you can safely turn off the power to your computer after you see the message: System halted.
